The Bible translation movement is relatively recent. 1800 years after Christ was born, translations into only 68 languages had been done.

But since then, wow!

In the 19th century, Christians increased the total to over 500. And in the last century, the number has tripled yet again. More and more languages ARE getting access to the Bible and all it brings with it.
