Sandals

Scripture Passage: John 13:1-5, 12-17

In New Testament times, the Jewish people had servants to do the menial tasks. To take off people's sandals and wash their dusty feet was the job of the lowliest servant of all. None of the disciples would lower themselves to do this job, so Jesus did it.  Jesus said that He had set them an example. His followers are to be servants to others. Matthew 20:28 says that Jesus came not to be served, but to serve and to give His life as a ransom for many.

Memory verse: 1 Peter 4:10
God has given gifts to each of you from his great variety of spiritual gifts. Manage them well so that God's generosity can flow through you. (NLT)
