Rabbit

Scripture: James 3:7-12

The rabbit is a wild animal but some people raise rabbits as pets. Even lions and tigers are trained by men to do tricks. But James says our tongues are even harder to train than wild animals. When we do not control our tongues, we can do a lot of damage, just as a fire does when it gets out of control. We need to ask God to help us keep our tongues under control.

Questions:
1. What is so difficult about taming the tongue?
No man can tame the tongue. It is a restless evil, full of deadly poison.
2. In what ways are we inconsistent?
With the tongue we praise our Lord and Father, and with it we curse men, who have been made in God's likeness. Out of the same mouth come praise and cursing.
3. What should our speech be like?
It should be consistent, like water flowing from a spring or fruit from a tree.

Memory verse: Psalm 19:14
May the words of my mouth and the thoughts of my heart
be pleasing to you, O LORD, my rock and my redeemer. (NLT)
