Fish

Scripture Passage: Luke 5:5-8

Simon Peter knew that only by a miracle could so many fish be caught in his net. He understood that Jesus had shown Himself to be from God. When people come into the presence of God for the first time, they are afraid like Simon was.  Because God is holy, they know they are sinners. The Old Testament tells us many times that the fear of God is the beginning of wisdom. If we truly fear God we will hate our sin and want to get rid of it. 1 John 1:9 tells us what we should do about it.

Questions:
1. How could Simon Peter have caught such a large number of fish?
It was only by a miracle.
2. Who is the only one who can perform miracles?
God is the only one who has that power.
3. When we fear God, what should we do?
We should confess our sin so He will forgive us.
