Jesus Drives Out an Evil Spirit

Scripture Passage: Luke 4:31-37

Jesus' ministry is of great authority and this authority is exercised in three ways - in His teaching, over demons, and on natural sickness. Every word of Jesus carried with it authority. Jesus did not go about hunting for unclean spirits to cast out. However, when the need arose, He acted promptly and with authority. Jesus is still setting people free from demonic influence.

Questions:
1. Why were the people amazed at Jesus' teaching?
Because He had authority.
2. How did Jesus show He had authority over evil spirits?
He only had to speak and the evil spirit left the man.
3. What else did Jesus show he had power over?
Sickness - he healed Peter's mother-in-law.
