Helmet

Scripture Passage: Ephesians 6:14-17

Guns had not yet been invented in New Testament times. A soldier used a sword, spear and arrows. His sword was hung from his belt. He wore a metal helmet on his head and a breastplate to cover his chest. He was careful to wear strong sandals so his feet would not slip. He carried his shield on his left arm to deflect arrows and spears. It is through prayer that we put on God's armour. Are we well-equipped soldiers in God's army?

Questions:
1. Instead of guns, what did soldiers use in New Testament times?
They used swords, spears and arrows.
2. With what did they protect themselves?
They wore a metal helmet and a breastplate and carried a shield.
3. What should we wear in our fight against Satan?
We should put on the whole armour of God.

Memory verse: Ephesians 6:11
Put on all of God's armor so that you will be able to stand firm against all strategies and tricks of the Devil. (NLT)
